Dr. Dimitrios Mihailidis received his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Operations Research from the "Industrial Engineering and Operations Research" department of Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan, USA and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the "Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering" department of WSU.
He is an associate professor of Operations Research and the former Chair of the Business Administration Department, a senior researcher and the Head of the "Operations Research and Strategic Development Division" at the "Centre for Technological Research" (CTR) of Crete as well as a senior visiting research associate at WSU. He is also a member of the Research Committee of the TEI of Crete and a member of the committee assembly responsible for managing all TEI research grants and funds. He has served as the departmental coordinator for the European Commission's "Erasmus LLProgramme" for at least 10 years
Dr. Mihailidis was the vice president and a member of the organizing and scientific committees of the 18th Scientific Conference of the Hellenic Association of Regional Scientists and, has been a reviewer for several international journals and a member scientific committees of various conferences. He has been publishing his research work in several highly accredited academic journals as well as conference proceedings and has been presenting it in various national and international conferences. He has received awards for his research work including the Franz Edelman Finalist Award for Achievement in Operations Research and the Management Sciences (Franz Edelman Laureate 2000) and has been nominated for the Henry Ford Technology Award for his research contribution to the Ford Motor Company.
He has been teaching for over 27 years (12 of them in the USA and over 15 at TEI of Crete) in both undergraduate and graduate programs including the Bachelor's and Master's degree Programs in the College of Engineering at Wayne State University (WSU), the "Professional Engineering Management Master Program" (EMMP) funded by Ford Motor Company and offered by WSU to the Ford Motor Company Engineers and the European Commission's "Erasmus LLProgramme".
Dr. Mihailidis has also managed projects funded by the "Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training" under subprogram 3: Higher Education (Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs) as well as the "National Strategic Reference Framework" (Ministry of Development and Competitiveness).
